At Life Moments, we like to help out as much as we can within our community. One way we give back is through our annual work experience scheme for local students.

This year, we had the pleasure of being joined by Ethan. For the duration of a week, Ethan worked with all members of our team, to give him a rounded idea of what working for a start-up could look like. Throughout his week with us, Ethan has completed multiple tasks, each teaching him something new about working at Life Moments.

Below you can read about Ethan’s experience, in conversation with our Marketing Associate, Daphne.

I have really understood what it’s like to work a real job, having a typical day from 9:00 to 5:00. It has opened my eyes up to what a small start-up firm goes through on a day-to-day basis. Working with each member of the team has really helped me get to grips with what goes into making and refining a product, and how much effort is put into each product. The different roles that I’ve been shown to in the team have really helped me to get a feel of what I would like to do in the future. I’ve really enjoyed the tasks that have been set and how nice the team has been.

Who’s job did you find most interesting?

I think Mark’s role is quite interesting. The tools that he used, [like] Figma, are interesting. And it’s interesting how he designs everything, what he goes through on a day-to-day, how he talks to the developers’ team and stuff like that. His whole role of creating the app [with] different [designs] and different colour schemes was interesting.

Is there anything you have experienced this week that you feel like is going to be quite useful in the next couple of years for you?

I’ve learned a lot about […] how the firm has used AI. I never really knew about that or thought that [businesses] would use AI. It’s been very eye-opening seeing the usage of AI- how that might come into play in the future and how I might use it in my future job.

Has anything that you experienced this week made you look differently at what you want to do in the future?

I’ve learned that working is a lot more fluid. You can go into different roles and you can take on different activities, really adapting to the situation. You don’t have to stick down a very specific, narrow path in life. So you could take on loads of different jobs and follow your passion.

Is there one word or one sentence that you would describe the company with?

Very active!

We couldn’t agree more with Ethan!
