As part of our commitment to giving back, our London team has been involved in advancing the inmate skills & education agenda with HMP High Down. HMP High Down is a Category 3 prison focused on rehabilitation and assisting inmates in gaining skills that will help them secure employment upon release. Our CEO Ben Leonard is Chair of their Employment Advisory Board, and has offered pro-bono support from Life Moments where HMP High Down can use our skillset.
Our continuing involvement in HMP High Down consists of:
- Helping understand the skills & educational gap within the prison system compared to what is currently on offer for inmates. We have supported the analysis and output of an inmate skills satisfaction survey, which you can read more about below.
- Supporting a monthly discussion to create education pathways for inmates, and find partners that can deliver skills required for employment outcomes. An example of how we support this is by setting up a CRM to help track potential partners.
- Looking at skills development within the prison population. We look at how they can adopt the skills needed for the modern workplace and how can we train the techniques required, for example through AI workshops.
Life Moments has offered support in analysing and processing recent survey results about inmates’ views on current education and skills initiatives within the prison. As part of that, we have agreed to create visual assets that could be shared with the inmates to communicate the results. The wider goal of this initiative is to provide a benchmark for progress and show inmates that their voices are being heard.
Life Moments analysed survey data, extracting headlines and key sentiment. We turned this survey data into an engaging A4 flyer highlighting key statistics, inmate quotes, and recommendations. The aim of this is to foster dialogue and improve rehabilitation and employment readiness.

We are hopeful that involving inmates in discussions about their retraining can lead to changes that increase successful work placements post-release. We look forward to continuing this collaboration in any way possible to help individuals get back on track and lead successful lives.
